Dr. K. Madhavan is the Department Chair and Professor for the Department  of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has received a bachelors and masters degree's in Civil Engineering from Indian Universities, a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi, and a Masters in Mathematical Sciences/Computer Science from the University of Memphis. He is a registered P.E. in TN (inactive), PA, and NJ, and has been active in foundation engineering-related consulting work for over 30 years.

Dr. K. Madhavan teaches courses in Geotechnical and Foundation Engineering, Pavement Design, Mechanics, and Geo-environmental courses. He has published several papers related to civil engineering education and practice. The Memphis Joint Engineer’s Council has recognized Dr. Madhavan as the 1989 Featured Engineer of the Year Award. He has been recognized in Who’s Who in American Education in 1993 and 1996; American Men and Women of Science, 1997.
